authentic.
Maedaya 400 Bridge Rd, Richmond
Awesome tapas, excellent service, and beautiful ambience. This place is highly recommended for the excellent food and service, what more reasonable prices. Do try the usual favourites like soft shell crabs and yakitori skewers.. etc. in nearly every other restaurant but here it tastes twice as good!
More like a Minus.
Dumplings Plus Swanston intersection Lonsdale ( few doors away from Maccas )
Dumplings Plus opened a few weeks ago, and the crowds have literally swarmed in to check out the the chefs working behind the glass counters , spinning out their handmade noodles and dumplings. The dumplings are not bad, and its worth a try, however the efficiency of the waitresses is definitely below par. They huddle in a corner, and customers beside us were yelling 'excuse me' pretty loudly before they even responded.
Three different groups of people ( us included ) didn't get our orders. We asked repeatedly for our food which they kept reassuring us that it was coming, but they didn't even bother to head to the kitchens to check if it was so. In the end, I ended up cancelling my order, the people beside us just paid their bill and cancelled their order, and the third group of people sounded pretty pissed off themselves.
The noodle soups are bland, I'm not sure if Shanghai noodles are supposed to taste that way, and I hope not, but watery soup is definitely not something thats really appetising.
Having gone there twice, and being thoroughly disappointed with both visits, I doubt i'll be going back there again.
push - kaaaa!
Pushka Espresso Bar 20 Pesgrave Place, Melbourne
Pushka is quirky , quaint, in a small little alleyway that makes it barely noticeable! The service is excellent, and the rickety old chairs that are situated just outside the small entrance makes the experience even more authentic, and it felt like a quiet haven in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. the coffee is excellent to boot! =)
