St Jeromes

This is the place to be on a Friday/Saturday night if you like either a chilled out atmosphere or a dance to some great beats.
The layout of St Jeromes is strange when you first get there...its not a usual 'one-room' bar, instead there are many spaces that somehow join up, and as you wander from space to space you get a feel of what makes this place so great...the people, the music and the atmosphere are for anyone who likes to have a great laid back time with friends. Also because the atmosphere is so friendly you have a good chance of meeting some new people.
Come when a band is playing or just come on a friday/saturday night...you will have a good time
this place is just great, of course i wouldn't dare go on the weekends because it's just so crowded. during the week tho, it's a great place to meet up with friends and just kick back with a drink and some music.
Strip off your jackets and ties, St Jerome’s is no place for them. Instead, owner Jerome would rather you rock up in whatever you feel most comfortable in. The daytime cafe and nighttime bar is the place to be if you just want to unwind, kickback and relax. No superficial over-the-top glamour pusses please.
Stepping into the mini bar is like walking into someone’s kitchen. No fancy artwork or furniture. Only pure, natural knick-knacks, that feel just right. Jerome likens the bar to a living thing, constantly unfolding and evolving into something different every day.
Having its own signature individual style is what St Jerome’s is all about. Walk down Caledonian Lane and check out the pieces by Monkey, Reka, Phibs and Bonsai - local street artists and friends of St Jeromes. The street art is very much a part of the bar itself.
Flaunting blatant individuality, tunes cover a wide variety of sounds. But you can be sure that commercial top 40 is not in the collection. Music here breaks away from the norm. Why stick to boring mainstream when you can have funk, soul and breaks?
Snack on something from the all-day menu that changes daily and wash it down with quality coffee. The key to the food and drink here is simplicity, not try-hard.
So if you're walking down the street and hear sounds from the laneway, don't be alarmed. It's simply a crowd of friends letting loose at a hip little joint that's been one of the city's best kept secrets.
