Ding Dong Lounge

Ding Dong is a venue that has a lot of potential to be cool, but doesn't quite cut it. The place itself is one of those bars that you know looks hideous in the daylight -- black painted walls, glitzy curtains; the entire thing is a strange mix between half-arsed and over-done. I can never understand why so many artists sign up to play at Ding Dong - the stage area is small and crappy and the dancing area is virtually non-existent due to some really badly placed steps. It's too small to be a proper gig venue, yet too hollow and spacious to be a friendly little bar. I'm not sure the target market here, but I always feel a little seedy and displaced after leaving here. That said, the toilets are pretty good, there's some memorable and amusing graffiti in there, and the girls at the ticket counter are kinda rockabilly and pretty cute.
