great for group bookings!

By chibimaru on 19 Aug 07

Have only been here once, but Chillipadi were great for our group booking. Had the sweetest waitress who really put up with a lot from my drunken friends, in fact all the servers were great. Food was fantastic everyone enjoyed what though ordered. Prices are decent and good atmosphere for a large group booking. Only setback is the restrooms are located outside of the restaurant. Other then this, everyone had a great time!

Me and My Nasi Lemak

By dave_f on 17 Jul 06

I might not be what they call a connoisseur of food but I definitely know my nasi lemak. For those of you who havent tried this dish...then you should head down to Chilli Padi. Forget about your usual "nasi goreng" or "tom yum" dish, and just ask for "nasi lemak beef rendang".

Out of all different nasi lemak that I've tried, Chilli Padi's one is the best so far. Don't forget to ask for extra sambal (or some call it chilli) with your nasi lemak..

Not your average Hawkers

By katsudon on 16 Mar 06

At first glance chillipadi doesn't seem like your typical asian restaurant - where are the plastic tables? Downstairs is more casual, with alfresco seating, while upstairs resembles a hip wine bar (indeed the owners are passionate about good wine). But tuck into the good oldfashioned Malaysian food and you'll realise why chillipadi is so popular among homesick South East Asian students as well as the upwardly mobile city crowd. In my opinion it serves up the best char kway teow in town. It's my theory that this humble yet addictive dish is a barometer for the quality of Malaysian food, and this rings true at chillipadi - The nasi lemak, laksa and chicken rice are as good, if not better, than anything you could find in Malaysia. They also serve dishes, such as tau ewe bak, but I've never been able to go past the hawker food!

Nasi Lemak at Chilli padi

By mutemonkey on 20 Jun 07
Fiery sambal, nicely crunchy ikan bilis (tiny dried anchovies) and tangy achar (pickled veggies), but while the chicken was fresh it wasn't as melt-in-the-mouth as I've had in the past. Still, overall it was very tasty. Visit blog

Chillipadi

I can also recommend the nasi goreng spicy fried rice with ikan billis (deep fried salty anchovies/peanuts) and sunny side egg. Yeah, it is a little naughty in the oily stakes, but it rocks big time. Visit blog
