Hairy Canary

“It’s my partner cos he’s pretty hairy, when Hairy Canary opened, he had long curly hair,” laughs owner Kristine Becker, explaining the interesting name behind one of Melbourne's institutional bars.
Hairy’s has been open almost ten years now and every day a constant flow of people streams through its doors, students, council members, models, hairdressers, architects... you name it, Hairy’s seen them all. Not wanting to just be another boring mainstream joint, the place is a hybrid of cafe, restaurant and club all in one. Hairy Canary combines cool funky jazz with beautiful people, an excellent menu, cocktail list and attentive service. Hairy's is not only a great place to spot the odd celebrity, but soft tempo lighting and lavish settings will have you feeling like one as you emerge from the flight of stairs at the entrance.
Cocktails are best described as non-traditional, cutting edge and refreshing and Kristine is coming up with one specially for Spring. So if you are in the mood for some latino mi casa su casa, Hairy’s is the place to be.
