Bimbo

Favouritized By

Bimbo owner Chris Bayer once had long blonde hair and was affectionately nicknamed Bimbo by his friends. With a pet dog named Bobo it only seemed right that when he opened his shop on Chapel Street it would also be called Bimbo. The self-professed designer hippie says he loves the untouched original feel of Windsor and he aims to bring in items, which are ‘a bit of fun… to make people smile’.
At Bimbo, the huge range of cool toys and designer items will bring back memories of stepping into a candy store as a kid. Most items have been sourced from Chris' travels abroad and connections with funky designers in Japan. Walls and shelves are lined with kookiness ranging from retro clocks, cigarette dispensing elephants (through their bottom), Smoking Tijuana donkeys, T Dogs and Monkeys from Bud by designroom. From his local contacts, there are cool items by Aussie designers like NookArt and funked up baby clothes label Oobi.
Chris say that the consumer scene is a little different in Japan and likens Japanese shoppers to extravagant spenders who value design above price. All items at Bimbo have been carefully selected so people can appreciate the design without worrying about extravagant prices.
Chris’s mix is all about fun. Style.. but mainly fun. The quirky items will knock you out of normality, stopping the tick-tock rhythm of rationality long enough for you to appreciate the fun side of life.
