Located in Block Place, Basement Discs is a flashback to a time when record stores were places where you loved to hangout.
Being in Basement Discs makes you feel like you are rummaging through your beloved record collection in your own basement.

On one side is a stage that goes off during Basement Disc’s renowned lunchtime sessions. Every Friday the best local and international acts are invited to belt out a few tunes, giving everyone a chance to check out great music for free.
In the far corner is an amazing listening lounge, which eschews fancy technology for a setup that makes you just want to lay back and relax to some fine tunes. Well worn leather lounges, retro cushions and a kitsch fake fish tank remind you of pre-MP3 days, when friends would come round to check out your records. If your eyes need a fix, take your pick from the foot high stack of music magazines completely covering the coffee table.

Basement Discs has a 12 year history and it’s written all over the walls. They read like a timeline of life changing moments in music history. Posters of jazz legends and the gods of rock vie for attention with the icons of today.

All sorts of memorabilia can be found scattered around, and unless you are a total music geek, you'll find it hard to recognise them all. And you won’t need to. the staff will gladly answer your musical queries. You get the feeling that the guys who work here really know and love their music. This depth of musical knowledge is definitely what sets Basement Discs apart.
