Capital 17 carries some great snow gear, and the staff are always out to give truthful advice when buying your board. Recommending a board that's to your level rather than selling you that new million dollar stick. Bored girlfriends / boyfriends and parents have the option of chilling on the leather couch, checking out the snowboard vids or playing pinnies whille they wait.
After a weekend of carnage and mayhem, Capital 17 has officially opened its doors to Melbourne’s skiers and boarders. The young upstart plans to shake things up a bit by pumping some excitement into the local scene. In much the same way snowboarding made it’s entry to the refined world of alpine sports, Capital 17 is planning to shock, scare and generally play by their own rules.
The name Capital 17 was chosen to match the grand old building at number 17 Hardware Lane. Manager Brett says "the plan is for Capital 17 to become more of community, a place to hangout and listen to live bands".
Capital 17 aims to bring in niche products, gear which is a little harder to find. So what’s on offer? How about Bonfire Skull Candy beanies? These souped up beanies include built-in headphones and their own AA battery powered sub-woofers so you can bring your own bass to the party. Want equipment that will stand out on the slopes this winter? Try Burton’s Un-Inc lineup of limited edition boards, bindings and attitude. Other brands include Nikita, Analog, Matrix, Lib-Tech and more. A variety of Fat skis are also available for those who still need training wheels.
Aside from the cool brands and loud attitude, you can rest assured that the Capital 17 guys love snowboarding , and have the experience to help you match your skills with your gear. As for future plans? Brett says that he “can’t give too much away.. but I am hanging for a spa bath…”
